The dingo (Canis lupus dingo) is a wild dog, found in Australia and Southeast Asia. This animal was brought to Australia 3,500-4,000 years ago by seafarers from Southeast Asia. The name dingo comes from the language of the Eora Aboriginal tribe. Dingos are found in many habitat types. The dingo has a red to yellow coat, a bushy tail, and large ears. Male dingos are larger than females, while Australian dingos are larger than the Asian dingos. Due to their large number, dingos are generally considered pests in Australia.
